🐾 Lucy's Corner · Lucy's Actual Chewy Orders

Lucy's Chewy Orders

Lucy turned 6 in 2025 and will be 7 in 2026 — still running, still eating everything in sight. I've been autoshipping her food and supplies through Chewy for years. Chewy makes it easy to take care of a big dog. Joint support, the food that actually gets eaten instead of left in the bowl, the toys she destroys in an hour. All here.

When Maddie joined the family as a puppy, she needed her own setup — different food, training pads, a smaller leash. Lucy's corner of the autoship expanded to include her. Nothing here is affiliate filler — I ordered every single one of these for dogs in my house.

🍗 Daily Food & Autoship Favorites

What Lucy Ate Every Day

These were on autoship. Set it and forget it — Chewy delivered before we ran out, every time. High-commission recurring orders if you go autoship on any of these.

🍗 ♻ Autoship Food
Purina Pro Plan Adult Chicken & Rice Formula
This was Lucy's food for four years straight. I tried to switch her once — she looked at me like I'd betrayed something sacred. Went back to Pro Plan, no more drama. Vet approved it too.

🐟 ♻ Autoship Food
Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Adult
When Lucy's coat started looking rough around year six, the vet suggested rotating to Blue Buffalo. Three months in, the difference was noticeable. I kept both in rotation after that.

🦬 ♻ Autoship Food
Taste of the Wild High Prairie Adult
I added this in for Lucy's last year when she needed higher protein and something easier to digest. She ate it clean every time. Grain-free, real ingredients, and she genuinely seemed to like the variety.

💊 Health & Joint Support

What Kept Her Moving

Lucy's last year was about maintaining quality of life. These are the supplements that got her up in the morning when her joints didn't want to cooperate.

💊 ♻ Autoship Joint
Nutramax Cosequin DS Plus MSM Chewable Tablets
The vet put Lucy on Cosequin at age eight when her hips started going. She was on it for the last three years of her life. I don't know if it extended her mobility or if she would've done fine anyway — but I wasn't willing to find out without it.

🌿 Senior
Zesty Paws Senior Advanced 8-in-1 Multivitamin
I started these in Lucy's ninth year when her energy was dipping and she wasn't finishing her meals. The vet said her bloodwork looked good. These were part of what we were doing. She took them no problem — soft chews, so no hiding pills in peanut butter.

🏥 Senior
Hill's Science Diet Adult 7+ Small Bites
Vet recommended this when Lucy crossed into her senior years. Smaller kibble for easier chewing, adjusted protein ratio for an older dog's kidneys. Exactly the kind of thing you don't think about until the vet brings it up and you realize you should've started it sooner.

🦴 Toys That Survived Lucy

She Tried to Destroy All of These

Lucy was not gentle with toys. These are the ones that lasted. If it held up against her, it'll hold up against most dogs.

🔴 Durable
KONG Classic Dog Toy
Lucy had three of these at a time so she couldn't monopolize one while it was soaking with peanut butter in the freezer. The rubber held up for two-plus years. She lost one, buried one, and wore the third down to nothing eventually — but nothing is an achievement for Lucy.

🟠 Fetch
Chuckit! Ultra Ball
Standard tennis balls lasted maybe three sessions with Lucy. The Ultra Ball lasted a full season before she got the outer layer off. Works with the Chuckit launcher so you can throw far without wrecking your shoulder. We burned through four of these over four years, which is practically indestructible by her standards.

🦴 Chew
Nylabone Power Chew Durable Chew Toy
For when she needed to chew something that wasn't the furniture. The Power Chew outlasted every softer option I tried. It takes a few weeks for a determined chewer to make a real dent. Replace when the nubs wear down — but that's the only time you need to replace it.

🐶 New Puppy Starter Kit

What Maddie Came Home To

When Maddie arrived, the closet full of Lucy's undelivered Chewy orders needed a purpose. These are what we set up for her first week. Solid starting point for any new dog owner.

🏠 Starter
MidWest iCrate Dog Crate Starter Kit
Crate, divider panel, bed, and bowl — everything to start crate training without three separate orders. The divider panel is the key: you expand the space as the puppy grows instead of giving them so much room they use the back corner as a bathroom. Maddie was out of the crate in six weeks.

📋 Starter
Frisco Training Pads
The unglamorous essential. Leak-proof backing, thick enough to actually contain an accident, and Maddie used the attractant scent the first time. Buy the big box — you will go through more than you think in the first two weeks. This is not the place to buy cheap.

🎁 Gifts Under $30

For the Dog Parent in Your Life

Impulse-priced, practical, and things you'll actually use. Good for gifting or rounding out an order to hit free shipping.

🦮 Under $30
Frisco Reflective Dog Leash
I walked Lucy at 0500 before work for most of her life. The reflective stitching matters more than you'd think in dark parking lots. This one is thick enough to handle a pull and the clip has never failed. I've had three of them over the years — they outlast the dog's interest in walks, not the other way around.

Burt's Bees Paw & Nose Lotion
Arizona asphalt in summer will crack a dog's paws. I started using this on Lucy after one bad blister situation. She didn't love the application but she tolerated it and the pads healed up fast. Good stocking stuffer — most dog owners don't think about paw care until there's a problem.
